SMARTBOX partners with James River Adventure Games

June 18, 2007 – Richmond, VA – This past weekend, Sportsbackers hosted The James River Adventure Games, held at Browns Island in downtown Richmond. As an extreme sports event, the games involved competition among athletes in seven outdoor activities including swimming, biking, running, and kayaking. The two day event, held June 16- June 17, also featured competition activities, live music, and fireworks for spectators.
Sportsbackers, a non-profit organization who strives to develop a vibrant community through sports, hosts this event annually as well as many other Richmond activities centered on sports. Pro triathletes compete in the Xterra East championships also held during this time on Brown’s Island. The Richmond Times-Dispatch captured full coverage of the weekend and can be seen at www.richmondtimesdispatch.com.
SMARTBOX provided various boxes to store food, water, and equipment for the participants. The units, located, between the swimming challenge and bike trail, gave volunteers easy access storage, as they assisted with the athletes needs. The boxes could also be seen by spectators on the course as noticed by Andree Lapat, contestant and coach as well as founder of workoutlog.com.

Started in 2001, SMARTBOX is a Richmond based company. It has franchises in Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia. For more information, visit www.smartboxusa.com
