Packing Tips
Lessons we’ve learned about packing your SMARTBOX!
• Plan your space before you start filling your Smartbox. Keep in mind that the box is going to be transported, so make sure everything is secure to ensure its safety.
• Use the enclosed inventory sheet to keep a complete accounting of items in your box. If packing multiple units create an inventory sheet for each by box number.
• Place heavy items on the bottom and lightweight items on top. The fuller and tighter you pack the box the safer the more secure your belongings will be and you will get the most value out of each box.
• Pack all items as tight as possible. Avoid leaving any open space where items can shift, and use D-rings on inside of the unit to tie larger or top heavy items to the wall.
• Distribute weight evenly throughout the unit; don’t pack heavier on one side! For example boxes of books can be very heavy try to place them evenly across the bottom of the box.
• Wrap fragile items or dishes individually in bubble wrap or non-printed newspaper. We have these items for sale, so don’t hesitate to call us should you need packing supplies. If packing a dresser, consider stowing fragile items in the drawers.
• Remove Legs from tables with “re-moveable” legs.
• Mattresses will fit through the door on their sides, load them first and prop them up so they stand upright. Try to pack bedrooms together to maximize your space and these will most likely be the boxes you need to unpack first.
• The average sized entertainment center is 85”hx24”dx42”w. It will fit in a SMARTBOX on its side. Make sure it is well padded and tied against the wall of the unit.
